DJ PETERSEN TEAMS WITH WETRANSFER
GILLES PETERSON, DJ and radio presenter and compiler of world music collections, is the newly appointed creative director for WeTransfer
“I’ll be launching a new radio station called Worldwide FM in September, and they are partnering with the project which is great news in that they’re a creative company who will be ideal to work with on some ambitious cultural exchanges, much like I have been doing and continue to do with Havana Club.”
One such exchange involves a trip to Cuba in August where Peterson and WeTransfer will be recording interviews with artists about how the internet has affected their work and their way of working across a wide range of creative disciplines including music, dance, and painting. “We recently filmed interviews with Julia Holter and Bonobo, and we’ll be doing more in that vein throughout the year,” he said.
Worldwide FM will run 12 hours a day initially with studios in Brussels, Rome, Paris and Istanbul, and a fifth location to be added in the coming months. “It’ll be a music heavy station, and we’ll be hosting well-known musicians but they won’t be doing DJ sets,” Peterson added. “Instead the team from the station and I will be curating the shows so that we get the best out of our guests.”
